Safe & Secure Tool Van

November 29, 2017

Clarks are renowned for their quality of build and attention to detail. Therefore It’s always a pleasure when we are approached by a potential client due to our reputation. We where contacted by Pendragon to assist Hanson in designing and creating a safe and practical Tool Van for their Road Maintenance Crews.

Hanson’s previous tool vans were simply ply lined with wooden shelves and fitted in-house. Yet road surfacing crews transport several expensive and very heavy items of equipment that enables them to complete their daily tasks. These items can become damaged in transit but also very dangerous in a collision if stowed incorrectly.

The ease of stowing, loading and unloading of heavy tools and equipment was key for Hanson. Easily accessible and lockable cages and strong boxes were installed along with metal racking to overcome these issues. In addition to the cages and boxes included in the vans, heavy locks were installed on the rear and side doors to prevent theft.

These new Clarks Conversions were chosen not with cost in mind but the Health and Safety of Hanson’s Crew. Mechanical Side Step, Hand Rails, Internal Lighting and Non-slip Flooring was installed to avoid slips, trips and falls. An additional drying area for wet clothing / PPE with hand washing facilities was also added to the build, along with First Aid and Eyewash kits.

Hansons not only supplied the brief but were also incredibly hands on with the design and development process. We welcome such an approach from our clients and it was great to see Hansons enthusiasm for raising the bar in safety, quality and comfort for their teams fulfilled. This was a real passion project for Hanson and a great collaborative effort from brief to execution by both parties. We are proud to know that we have together improved the safety wellbeing of their crews.

We look forward to our future projects together!
