We’re On Board!

February 15, 2018

Here at Clarks Vehicle Conversions, we make no bones about letting people know that we love to invest in our company, our teams’ and their future but here’s something new, even for us, investing in a team who are intent on making history.

In 2019 two friends from Yorkshire will be braving the elements and rowing more than 3000 nautical miles from La Gomera, Canary Islands to Antigua, Caribbean as part of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge - “The worlds toughest row”.
To put their epic journey into perspective - More people have been into space, than have rowed the Atlantic!

Here is a brief video intro about the race: https://youtu.be/GDrfueGIddw

Not content with the challenge itself, Chris and James not only hope to break a world record and inspire other to push personal boundaries but they have also given themselves the added pressure of raising £100,000 for two local charities.

The two charities they have chosen to support are:
CentrePoint - Combating youth homelessness
BHC Neonatal Unit - Caring for premature and sick babies.
You can read more about the charities here here > www.hohw.co.uk/charities

If you would like to make a personal donation towards their £100,000 goal (every little helps) you can donate directly via www.hohw.co.uk/give - don’t forget to add “gift aid”!

Chris and James are not seasoned ocean goers but a pair of everyday lads, yet their enthusiasm, grit and determination echo Clarks ethos of adapting to overcome challenges.

“We believe that anyone can achieve the unthinkable and make a difference regardless of their background or perceived ability. We hope to demonstrate this through our row, whilst raising money and exposure for our two chosen charities.” Chris & James

As team Hell Oar High Water (HOHW) Chris and James will each burn over 10,000 calories per day whilst only taking in 6,000. They will loose 20% of their bodyweight before they cross the finish line. Not to mention contending with the 50ft waves, sleep deprivation, salt sores and sharks.

Clarks have become an official Corporate Sponsor of Hell Oar High Water and we look forward to working with them closely over the next couple of years. If you would like to join us and become a corporate sponsor of Hell Oar High Water, you can find more info here > www.hohw.co.uk/sponsorship
