Our 10-Stage Process

February 14, 2024

The conversion industry can sometimes find itself challenged by delays from external influences. As such, Clarks Vehicle Conversions is constantly trying to mitigate the effects by optimising and refining every stage for maximum efficiency, providing clients with a swift and hassle-free journey from concept to completion.

This process showcases Clarks' client-centric approach, where the process itself is a product of listening, learning, and innovating to better serve those who entrust their vehicle conversions to Clarks.

This has evolved over the years and has resulted in the creation of the “Clarks 10 Stage Process”. A clear and concise workflow that reassures our clients that we have done everything in our power to make their journey with us as smooth as possible.

Below you can see a breakdown of that process.

1. HOMOLOGATION

We always “start with safety” - it’s our mantra and something we believe in passionately and it culminates in Homologation. Homologation is a critical stage ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Clarks meticulously navigates through legal and safety requirements, obtaining the necessary approvals (including Type Approval) to guarantee that each converted vehicle meets or exceeds industry regulations.

2. SPECIFICATION

At the heart of Clarks' vehicle conversion process is a detailed specification phase. Collaborating closely with clients, the team identifies unique requirements and objectives. Whether it's a bespoke Welfare Van, Crew Carrier or Racking Vehicle this step sets the foundation for a tailored conversion experience.

3. BASE VEHICLE

The selection of the base vehicle is pivotal in achieving the desired functionality and aesthetics. Clarks employs a discerning eye in suggesting the right base model, considering factors such as size, weight, budget, and adaptability to the conversion requirements along with the relevant compliance. Plus with well established links, over many years, to base vehicle manufacturers, you can be assured that we get the best time frames available.

4. DESIGN

In the design phase, Clarks' Technical team of experts transforms concepts into tangible plans. This stage involves the creation of detailed blueprints, focusing on the functional aspects of the conversion resulting in our trademark “Unapologetically Functional” build quality and durable aesthetics. Continual collaborative discussions with clients ensure that the design aligns seamlessly with their vision.

5. RECEIVE VEHICLE

Once the design is finalised, the spotlight shifts to the arrival of the base vehicle. Clarks can assist with the logistics, ensuring a smooth and secure reception of the vehicle. This marks the transition from planning to the hands-on phase of the conversion process.

6. CONVERT

The heart of the operation – the conversion process itself. With precision, skill and access to industry leading technology and systems, Clarks' experienced teams’ bring the design to life. From structural modifications to installing specialised equipment, this phase is a testament to craftsmanship and attention to detail.

7. DOCUMENTATION

Ensuring transparency and compliance, Clarks meticulously documents every aspect of the conversion. From technical specifications to safety certifications, comprehensive documentation provides clients with a complete record of the vehicle's transformation.

8. QUALITY CONTROL

Before a converted vehicle hits the road, it undergoes a rigorous inspections process. Clarks employs their 191-Point Quality Control Check to verify that every aspect of the conversion meets their high standards. This commitment to quality sets them apart in delivering vehicles that not only meet but exceed expectations.

9. DVLA REGISTERED

Navigating the bureaucratic landscape, Clarks handles the certification process with the supplying dealership, ensuring that the converted vehicle is officially recognised and documented within the correct vehicle category. This step adds an extra layer of assurance for clients, knowing that their vehicle is fully compliant, roadworthy and has the correct certification including a Stage 2 Statutory Plate or N1 Vehicle Enhancement Scheme (VES).

10. COLLECTION

The final stage sees the culmination of efforts as clients collect their newly converted vehicles. Clarks ensures a seamless handover, providing clients with a thorough understanding of the features and functionalities of their transformed vehicle.
